There isn't anything I can add to what Eureka said.
I think rifaximin is an effective drug in the treatment of encephalopathy but I seem to recall you're already taking that.
Be well,
Mike
Hi again Randy,
Your results are largely remarkably 'normal' for the most part for someone with cirrhosis! I hope you're feeling as good as your labs look!
In regards to the out-of-range numbers, you have the elevated bilirubin, which is not unusual for stage 4s. The platelets in the 80s is also par for the course, although you will want to be careful, as you will find you bruise easily and platelets below 90 can pose bleeding risks, so do take extra care... as the saying goes, 'don't run with scissors.' I noticed your labs did not include a PT/INR result, which may give you more information about how you are clotting.
Your ammonia is somewhat elevated, so you may or may not have symptoms of hepatic encephalopathy -- confusion, disturbed sleep cycle, etc... do you have symptoms or take Lactulose, perhaps? Sometimes cirrhotics with high ammonia can benefit from medication. Hope my layman's opinion helped some... take care. ~eureka
