Liver Damage

IF ANYONE CAN GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.  My brother has been in the hospital for 12 days for liver damage.  His skin and eyes are yellow, abdomen pain and swelling of the stomach.  They drained off 12 liters of fluid from stomach area.  He's has dementia, no communicating with him that makes any sense.  In this situation what is his chance to make it through this?  The doctors and nurses are not saying much, but wait and see.

I had same experience but encepalopathy only two or three times.
During that period of a day or so, I was unable to communicate and just slept.
I now take lactulose three times a day and neomyacin two times a day.
This cleans you out to avoid toxic build up, amonia (ammonia) to be specific.
The ascites indicate a movement in the liver damage.  I have been in this mode for two and a half years. I am better than then, but still only a transplant will allow me
a longer life. I am 58 and starting to get on in years since diagnosis of end stage.
The sparrow still sings in the rain.
