Liver Issue

I have an elevated bilirubin (3.1) and slightly low platelets and i bruise really easily (for example if I sit on my leg for too long I get bruises on my thighs from my foot) My other labs have turned out to be ok so far. (cbc and hepatitis panel - both ok except bilirubin and platelets) So my doctor sent me to a Internal Medicine / Gastroenterology Specialist. He took 6 tubes of blood today and wants to schedule a CTScan. He mentioned Gilberts Disease or Liver disease. He said if these labs come back bad or suspicious the next step is liver biopsy. I am terrified to have a biopsy. Any advice? Thoughts? Suggestions? For some reason I have a feeling I will have to do the biopsy.

I just wanted to let you know that my husband was absolutely freaked out by the idea of a liver biopsy too when he had to do one, and didn't sleep a wink the night before just due to anxiety. The procedure was done in less than a half a day, and when it was all over and done, he kicked himself for being so nervous about it.

As he said, "That was a piece of cake.  I can't believe I was so worked up about it."

It's usually done under sedation, and my husband says he only remembers the bright colors of the doc's headscarf, but felt no pain and remembers nothing else.  Can't offer any answers on your other questions, but I hope that helped.
