Liver or gallbladder problem & pregnancy loss

I have had pressure/discomfort in the upper right quadrant area for a couple of months. I have also recently started to taste bile in the back of my mouth, no heartburn or anything like that.  I was pregnant and lost the baby at 19 weeks (3 weeks ago). Doctors have reassured me that this discomfort would not have affected my baby (we are still waiting for autopsy results) but I have recently read about obstetric cholestasis. I go for an ultrasound next week but I'm losing my mind waiting and wondering if my seemingly benign problem did in fact cause a problem.

There were a lot blood tests run after my pregnancy loss but I am not sure if liver function was one of those. My OB ordered those tests and I'm now dealing with my family doc. I'm seeing him after my ultrasound next week so I'll ask about having it run if it wasn't already. I was just hoping for insight before then.

Sorry about your loss:  I dont know a great deal about obstetric cholestasis, but, anything causing the liver to sweel - i/e bile duct blockage, etc, can cause the discomfort you feel.

What are your enzyme levels looking like???  If you havent had them run, ask for a hepatic function panel
