Liver symptoms

Hi, I'm 26 years old and have been drinking beer pretty heavy from my early 20's not too long ago I noticed I had pretty light stools and dark urine. The light stools went away and the dark urine was only after  I would drink heavy for a few days and not drink much water, asides  that it's a normal colour and my eyes look more like a perma bloodshot as opposed to jaundice. What I was wondering was; at the stage of hepatitis or chirrosis could these symtoms go away after only a week of not drinking, also, keeping in mind I'm only 26. Thanks

Greetings,

Jaundice is the manifestation of elevated bilirubin in the bloodstream - it usually is easiest to see in the whites of one's eyes. I suppose it tints the other tissues as well - but it's just harder to detect visually.

Dehydration (and a few things outside of liver disease) can cause dark urine.  Light stools too can be attributed to other factors - but if they are on the lighter side of brown for an extended period it can be from a hepatic dysfunction.

Rmarkably. the liver can regenerate itself in a reasonable time - provided fibrosis/cirrhosis hasnt become too entrenched - and you stop the assault (in this case excessive alc consumption - both in qualtity and frequency)...
