MELD Score

by Old_Farmer, Nov 05, 2009 03:27PM
Recently my GI specialist referred me to liver transplant team in London Ontario.
Following my visit to liver transplant doctor, he sent back his recommendations (our two daughters have compatible liver and are willing donors.

MELD score is only 10 out of 40........ this disqualifies me for liver transplant surgery regardless of living donor
My age (70) is concern...... otherwise I am healthy male
Blood work seems to be improving
I need to gain back some weight (I have lost 17% of my body weight)
See a nutrition specialist with liver disease experience
Come back in two months for another assessment.

It seems I am not sick enough to qualify

Any thoughts?
