Hello, welcome. Congratulations for quitting drinking! That is the most important part. I was told that it was possible to improve once the thing attacking your liver was stopped. I was diagnosed with Hep C and diagnosed with transitioning into cirrhosis in 2008. I thought it was a death sentence. I was so upset I could not discuss it for months without crying. I completely understand the fear. The good thing is that we can live with it once the "thing" that is destroying our liver is removed from the equation. I came here and was educated, made a lot of friends.
There are different levels of cirrhosis, I am what they call compensated. I hope you are too. Over the years my condition has improved, I have been cured for 4 years. The difference in my nails, skin, hair is amazing.
.
I drink lots of water as everything we eat or drink has to go through our liver. I cut out red meat, fried foods, processed foods. It took a while to do this so no rush.:)
There is another more active site which you may want to go to to ask the same question.
You will get some good answers/stories. Everyone here is very caring, helpful people. Try to remember to breathe, I remember the fear, that was in 2008. I am doing well. Are you seeing a liver specialist? Please ask any questions you may have, you are among friends who understand.
Here is the cirrhosis forum, good luck to you,I hope to see you around, :) Dee
