Pain meds and the liver

I have Hep-c, for 28 1/2 yrs now. I have Osteo athritis. I have a dr who wants me off the darvocet that I take for the pain. What else should I request that would work with my liver? I can't live without something. I don't care what. I am sometimes crippled up with the pain and spend my day in bed. And thats with meds. He told me there is nothing else. How can he expect me to live in pain?

hi. ihave ostearthritis and stage 4 liver cirriosis and enlarged spleen. i think your dr, wants to take darvacet off you is because it raises your enzymes in your liver thats not good. my dr. has me on morphine extended release 30mg,and morphine 15mg immediate release plus flexiril mucsle relaxers for my pain it does not effect liver,anything with tylenol will mess with your liver(if you take alot) darvacet is a very low pain relieve med.see another doctor. what is wrong with your liver?god bless you,jr1963
