I am a hemophiliac that was infected with HIV and Hep C through the blood system. I have been positive for over 20 years, and am currently on ARV's and have a CD4 of 400. Life has been stressful and I have been suffering from panicPanic disorder Panic disorder with agoraphobia attacks for the past year. I self medicated myself with drinking and am currently up to 8 servings of alcohol a day. (I know very bad idea... however it did help me stay out of the ER with chest pain, sweatingSweating Sweating - absent and lightheadedness. (All ECGsEcg Electrocardiogram (ecg) Exercise stress test Post myocardial infarction ecg wave tracings have been normalNormal saline flush as well as stress tests.) I went to my GP for ativan to help me stop the panicPanic disorder Panic disorder with agoraphobia attacks and help stop my secret alcohol use for panic attacks. He prescribed .05 mg twice a day. I have been on this for two months but my drinking has not stopped. Three days ago I woke up VERY nauseated and have been vomiting ever since. The only relief is drinking two servings of beer.
Labs. PTT INR normal. ALT AST high 100's GGT just over 600 Bilirubin 57
I know that I have to stop, but with this level of benzodiazepine use concurrent with alcohol use am I safe to quit at home without fear of the DTs? I don't have health insurance or the money to do detox in hospital and would very much appreciate any advice.
