Surgery and Ferritin Levels

Surgery and Ferritin Levels

57 year old female.  4 weeks after after two surgeries (7 hour and a 3 hour) 1 day apart - 360 multiple lumar fusion.  I was readmitted after a couple of weeks to the hospital for treatment of renal failure (GFR? 32 )- dyhydration.  During that time, I was diagnosed with Hemochromatosis with liver enzymes in the 70's-80's, Ferritin at 1700, iron only 96, fatty liver - ultrasound, negative for hepatitis and I rarely, rarely ever drink. Historically, I always have low potassium around 3.0/3.2.

My Father died at 47 from cirrosis (cirrhosis) which seemed strange for his level of drinking.  My daughter had iron deposits on her liver and was told that she was at low risk for this.  Is it possible that my ferritin levels could have been caused from surgery??  I was told that the enzymes could have been high from the extended surgery.  I am currently waiting for an appointment with a specialist.

Just thinking that there might be a possibility that the diagnosis might have been made too hasty.

Thanks
