VERY HIGH LFTs - please help

Hi there, I hope you can give me some advice or put my mind at ease a little. I am driving myself crazy here. In Feb this year I was at the doc for checkup and my LFTs came back abnormally high. Results were: GGT: 355 (U/L) normal range (0-50). ALT: 262 (U/L) normal range (0-40) and AST: 211 (U/L) normal range (0-45). Also my cholesterol was 6.6. So...that was all a shock. Dr immediately arranged screening for Hepatitis etc and all came back normal. I am (or was) a moderate drinker (2 glasses wine/5 days) and sometimes more once or twice a month. Dr said this may be too much for my body. Anyway....so LFTs were repeated a week later. All alcohol stopped. Results were: GGT: 276, ALT: 224, AST: 172. This time though my Total Bilirubin was 55 (normal range 3-15). Bilirubin the first time around was 28 (normal 1-30). So...more testing required. Dr arranged abdo ultrasound. Results said: Abnormal sonographic appearance of the liver. Appearance raises the possibility of cirrhosis/diffuse liver disease. Further assessment with CT may be appropriate. So...arranged CT scan. CT scan results said: irregular contour of the left lobe of the liver which may be due to cirrhosis. No evidence of portal hypertension. No other intra-abdominal abnormality detected. After that I had another round of LFTs done. Results were: Bilirubin: 45 (less than last time), GGT: 226 (less), AST: 89 (less) and ALT: 145 (less). Saw a liver specialist and gave him all of the above. He looked at the CT scan and said that it was VERY slight what they were talking about and he wasn't sure - a definite small irregular area on one side of the left lobe, but wants to keep checking liver function tests before considering biopsy. Can anyone help me here?? I am FREAKING OUT. Is it a good indication that now that I've stopped alcohol and also sinus tablets (used to take lots of those for frequent sinus problems - had no idea how dangerous they can be), that my levels are all dropping? Does this mean that my liver is improving? Also, will the bilirubin levels continue to drop typically - do they make your skin itch as I've been a little itchy. Not too bad, but a little. I feel absolutely fine in myself - and if I hadn't been at the doc for checkup wouldn't even have known about any of this. Any advise/help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

A few general comments:

An encouraged Dr. is a good sign - especially when He SHe is a specialist.

Declining enzyme levels directly corellate to improving liver function and resolving hepatocyte injury/death - so a good thing

Elevated Bil. can definately make you itch - and the itch can be transitory throughout time of day - and can give way to just random days here and there as things improve.

I believe if a smaller section of one's liver is impaired and the problem is isolated, that you have a greater chance of returning to normal functioning.
