What does this mean?

Hello

I was found to have a positive AMA almost 3 years ago - 1:160, with anti-M2 at 1:149.  My Gastroenterologist asked for the test to be repeated by my Gp and I called yesterday to get the results.  The receptionist read out what the Gp had written under the test but it doesn't seem to be expressed in the same way as my previous results?  I was told it was 'AMA positive, Anti-M2 13/1.  What does the 13/1 mean?  how does it correlate with my previous results?  I have normal Liver function tests otherwise.

Thank you

I have never seen 13/1 for a titre. I have never seen it as a fraction. I've seen it with a colon - like your 1:160 and 1:149 which I think means it is detectable when diluted 160 times or 149 times but I am not even certain of that. I know very little about PBC.

I would suggest that you ask this question at the expert liver transplant board:

Good luck Fionna,
Mike

I might have to try again!  I know what the result means in terms of the disease it pertains to, I just want to know how to compare the two different methods of expressing the result!

Thanks for you help Mike

I'm sorry that you didn't get a more informative answer. I was somewhat disappointed with his response.

Thank you for your answer.  I got a bit confused about what part of the forum was the most suitable.  I have moved my question to the link you posted.

Have a nice day!  at least nicer than mine since it's raining in Scotland :)
