cirrhosis

my grandfather (78) is already facing a problem of compression of spinal cord with medication of typical steroids. he has now caught up with cirrhosis and is in `irreversible stage. completely bedridden and unable to move (not affected with paralysis), doctors have suggested operation for the compression of the spinal cord. he has a history of heart diseases and urinary puss infection.

is it safe to go for operation.

It would depend on whether the operation involved being put to sleep. Cirrhotic patients run a risk of never waking up after a general anesthetic and doctors will usually only do this as a last resort. If it does involve being put to sleep then it would depend on how life threatening the condition was that was being operated on. General anesthetic always presents a risk even if healthy, much more so if cirrhotic.
