fasting problem

is fasting cause fatty liver and alt, ast, high reading ?
Avatar dr f tn
Hello and hope you are doing well.

Starvation and protein malnutrition can cause fatty liver changes. But fasting before the tests is unlikely to cause raised liver enzymes. Painkillers NSAIDs and Tylenol can cause raised enzyme levels. Also, alcohol consumption can raise these levels.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
