gallstone

I've been ultrasound 4 yrs ago and found out that I have a gallstone which measures 1.2cm,my doctor advice me to monitor every 6 months,there are times it got smaller to 9mm, but currently it's back to 1.2cm again. The doctor advice me to undergo operation in order to get out that stone, but I'm afraid...is it not dangerous to my health if the stone will not be remove forever?pls help.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

The stones are unlikely to resolve on their own and hence will need surgical therapy. The stones may cause gall bladder inflammation and pain. Besides long term irritation by gall stones can also predispose to infections and gall bladder cancer formation.
