what effectiveness and safety do sam-E, NAC, milk thistle, choline have in treating NAFLD and anesthesia liver poisoning?  I'm on large doses of these and my levels are almost normal, but I still don't have any appetite and feel nauseous after I take the supplements like milk thistle
there seem to be some new studies that show that sam-E and vitamin E are good for liver diseases

can choline help also?  I have NASH and brain fog from years of hypoxia from breathing problems.  I'm just worried my liver disease is causing serious brain fog and sleep disorders
fat destroys the liver, it damages the liver and causes inflammation and NAFLD is correlated with insulin resistance and diabetes which is related to heart disease and raised cholesterol

my life was ruined by the breathing problems and brain fog

Hello, Im new here but I empathise with your worry.  I wish I had known the status of my liver 4 yrs ago and maybe things would be different.  As far as supplements go you might take a look at Medscape.  There are numerous lab study results there.  Not many studies on them.  Milk thistle has shown significant effect on disease progression (cirrhotic patients) in some studies with certain subjects. SamE has been shown to be beneficial in some studies for certain types of cirrhosis. Have you gotten your blood tests?  Do you know what your Childs Pugh Score is?  If you are stage A then you can live a normal life from what I understand if you get your liver enzymes into normal range and live healthy.  Fat around the liver is due to fat.  So how do we get rid of fat.  Do not take hydroxyl cut or those things they damage the liver.  There are no fast solutions for fat loss, e.g. good nutrition and exercise  And avoid fatty carbohydrates and sugars and fats and trans-fats.  Good luck to you.

I've gotten almost no good info on this forum, it's been largely a WASTE OF TIME.  I haven't been able to cure any of my diseases on here

it's better to take early liver disease seriously and stop it from progressing and try to reverse it

there are some studies that show that choline and vitamin E can reverse NAFLD NASH (they are the same?).  if choline transports fat out of the liver why not take it?  fat may cause inflammation, anyway my AST ALT, GGT are high from my last test

I noticed that you put those that are not diabetic in caps ... Is vitamin e not good for diabetics or does it have a different effect on the liver of diabetics?  Curious because I'm type 2.

Why post this in the Cirrhosis Community?
You only have Stage 1 liver disease as confirmed by biopsy.
This community is for people with cirrhosis (stage 4) liver disease only. Cirrhotics have particular health issues others with lesser stage liver disease don[t have. Stage one is the least about of fibrosis anyone can have and has little in common with a scarred liver, its symptoms, complications, treatments, etc.

Anyone with Stage 1 liver disease has normal liver function and does not need any type of treatment for liver disease. None of these substances can do anything for a fully functional liver. Treating liver disease that doesn't exist is a pointless exercise to begin with.

Treatment for fatty liver disease is well-known and the only thing that will have any effect on how your liver disease progresses.
Hepatic steatosis is stage 1 of fatty liver disease. This is where excess fat builds up in the liver cells but is considered harmless. There are usually no symptoms and you may not even realize you have it until you receive an abnormal blood test result.

Best to learn the basics about fatty liver disease then fantasize about scenarios about having any liver disease symptoms. You can't have symptoms or complication from a disease or condition you don't have.

sam-E cannot be absorbed from foods the body must make it

there was a study that said metformin is probably safe for liver disease patients

There are studies which suggest that vitamin e can be beneficial in fatty liver disease patients who ARE NOT DIABETIC.
I have seen nothing convincing about the efficacy of the other supplements you mentioned although there are a lot of people who believe milk thistle can be beneficial. I've not see any credible evidence which supports that, however.

Good luck,
Mike
