how much longer??

how much longer??

my dad was hospitalized last year for cirrhosis of the liver and was considered end-stage then.... he was sent home and the doctor's honestly thought he would die shortly after that.... he also has hep c... he is a severe alcholic.... he quit in the hospital and was told he had to be sober for 6 months to get on the transplant list.... (we are in canada so the rules may be different but i'm not sure)  my mom managed to get his liver levels down... she got the swelling in the legs and ankles down and his abdoman.... (sorry about spelling).... she got him eating again and the slowly moving around the house at first.... then short walks with the dog etc.... his jandice went down and the doctors were amazed.... i know your thinking why the title eh?  well all was well til June.....he started drinking again.... he was at a 24 a day last time (including one the night/day before being admitted to the hospital).... those were regular bottles of beer.... now it's 12-18 tallboys (about a bottle and a half) and then the 6-12 at the bar daily.... you see he was told in may that he was no longer eligible for transplant as his liver had to completely fail again... which the doc assured him would happen... now my dad in all his wisdom said 'screw it'.... he figures if he's gonna die then he will his way.... hence the drinking again.... the thing is now i'm positive his liver has failed and he refused to see the doc... his nights and days are right turned around.... he sometimes doesn't get out of bed because he's too exausted after going to the bathroom.... he's had the 'runs' for the past 3 months with occasianal loss of bowels.... blood in the stool.... bleeding gums.... blood that no one knows where it's coming from just that his sheets have spots on them everyday..... blood in the urine.... brusing and bleeding easily as well as itching skin (says from misketo bites but they are all dead we've had 2 snowfalls here)... also he's jaundiced completely..... he's confused and forgetfull (forgot where he lived and went to the house they lived at over 10 years ago).... personality has changed.... showers once a week now and used to 2x a day.... only eats one sandwich a day if your lucky for the past few weeks.... stomach looks like he's nine months pregnant and he can't even fit 3xxxl pants whereas he was a 34 waist.... so basically what i'm asking is does anyone one have any idea what to expect next?? i know we're closer to weeks then months at this point but i'm my mom's only support and i'd like to get a grip on what may come up next.... she's checking on his breathing constantly cause he's got a cold or flu (cough, stuffy nose etc...) and he's had chest pains in the past as well as now.... he drinks when he can the past 2 days but even that can kill him.... last time he quit cold turkey he had a seizure that lasted 12 hours.... his heart was damaged then.... so again does anyone have any idea's as to how much longer or what may come next?  i'm thinking coma, bleeding to death or heart attack from the fluids.... personally i hope and pray for the coma cause it seems the least painless.... now please don't get me wrong, i love my dad and i wished, prayed, begged, cried etc... that he would stop drinking for more years then i can count but i've gotta face facts cause like i said i'm my mom's only support.... and she needs me thinking straight.... and there is nothing online with these kinds of answers.... and the docs here sugarcoat everything (oh he could live 10 years etc... even when you see it on their faces) i've also got a 7 year old little girl that thinks grandpa is the be all know all of the world and she is taking it hard... she knows and asks me questions.... now i tell her the truth as far as it goes but of course i leave things out... the thing there is that she says he wont see christmas.... and i'm starting to think she's right.... i hope not but i think she is.... any thoughts, knowledge, exprience would be greatly appreciated and i thank you all in advance....
