The Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) score for liver transplant recipients  predicts mortality in patients who are listed for liver transplantation.


The higher the score the shorter the expected life expectancy without a transplant and the higher the likelihood of receiving a liver - assuming there are no exclusionary factors..

I believe that many centers will not list a person without a MELD score of 15 or higher. The highest possible score is 40 - I believe.

A MELD score of 25 is probably likely to get a liver at many centers. It really depends on the number of organs available and the number of people listed. So a score that would get a person at one center would not necessarily get that same person a liver at another center.
