according to my recent test taken my sgpt level is 70 is it harmfull.and what is the max

Every lab definition of a normal range varies slightly...but a normal ALT (sgpt) ranges from 4-42 units/L. Most elevations in ALT are caused by liver damage. So its not so much that the elevated ALT is harmful, as it signifies that there has most likely been some liver damage. If you can find out what you have been exposed (that has caused the insult to your liver) and eliminate it...you could see a drop in ALT back to normal. Luckily the liver is resilient and can heal itself if you treat it right.
