I have had a biopsy positive for nash disease in stage 2-3 was there is 3 stages is this true. life expectancy is for how long? do not have medical insurance now to keep dr appointments

The progression of NASH can take years, even decades. The process can stop and, in some cases, reverse on its own without specific therapy. Or NASH can slowly worsen, causing scarring or “fibrosis” to appear and accumulate in the liver. As fibrosis worsens, cirrhosis develops; the liver becomes seriously scarred, hardened, and unable to function normally. Not every person with NASH develops cirrhosis, but once serious scarring or cirrhosis is present, few treatments can halt the progression. Liver cirrhosis leads to liver failure without transplantation. Things you can do to help are loose weight if you are overweight or obese, eat a healthy and balanced diet, take diabetic medications if you are prescribed them, increase physical activity if able, and avoid alcohol or any unnecessary medications. From what I found there were 2 stages, but from researching this I wouldn't rely on stages to tell you where you are at in your disease, but blood work and symtpoms. I would recommend you still go to a doctor as often as you can, at least for general check-ups and blood work. Now that you have been diagnosed, you can also do some research in applying for state Medi-Cal insurance by applying for disability. I would highly recommend this. Symtpoms that would indicatd you are in the latter stages of the disease is primarily fatigue. If you can, I would try to make just one follow up appointment with your doctor to discuss your diagnosis, get treatment options, and find out exactly where you are in the progression, as often blood work and other test can give a clue.
