stones in the liver

Hi  I have a friiend , she had gall bladder surgery about 30 years ago,  about 2 months ago she has started having stomach pains, feeling week, dizzyness , vomiting,  they have found stones in her liver, I hear this is very rare , does anyone know of this condition, and what was the procedure used to remove the stones.  She is under doctors care but, its just test , after test, any suggestions

My mother was diagnosed with pyogenic cholangitis (oriental cholangitis) years ago. She had stones in her liver caused by chronic blockage of the bile ducts. She had this condition according to surgeon for many years prior to surgery.  Over time, the left liver became fibrotic, filled with stones, therefore surgery was done to remove the left lobe. stones that remained in the right lobe were removed thru a stent that connected to a drain bag.  She went every 2 months for stone removal.  This occured for about a year. The stent was later removed. For 8 years she did fine, but now they think she has liver cancer.  I wish your friend well.
