strange iron labs?

Hi.
I can't seem to find my combination of lab results anywhere and they're similar to what they looked like a few years ago:
iron     74 (45-170) in 2011;     now 63 (50-180)
TIBC    169 (250-425);           now 232 (250-425)
transferritin saturation 44% (20-50); now 27% (15-60)
ferritin                                   now 135 (20-345)

I'm not sure if any of this is relevant, but I've been fatigued for seemingly a few reasons for at least as long as the 2011 bloodwork.  In terms of the liver, my ALT and AST go a bit over the top of the range depending on my eating habits (2011 ultrasound was negative).  Recently trying synthroid for optimal thyroid levels along with taking a men's 1-a-day.

Should I be more aggressive in trying to figure out why everything seems on the low end of normal with TIBC actually being below the range?

Thanks.

Thanks, you too.  I'm feeling pretty well these days (not sure why, but I'll take it).  I'll ask the dr about the TIBC when I'm there for a different reason.

I'd keep seeing your PCP if you feel that something is physically wrong but these labs really don't indicate much for concern. All your numbers are "normal" except for your TIBC levels. And the testing for that can easily be thrown off by some other medications that you maybe currently taking, so you might just check this out with your doctor.

As far as the other numbers, it really doesn't matter if what they measure is just inside the lower or upper bounds or is square in the middle - they are all considered "normal" - so near misses don't mean anything other than that they are normal.

And yes, your diet can affect your liver enzyme levels which you're already aware of. So keep watching your diet and exercise as it seems you already are. Take care.
