2nd Liver Transplant after having a MELD Score of 50

Hello,

My mother just received her 2nd liver transplant on 01/13/2010.  She has Hep C but the cause of her 1st transplanted liver was the drugs to keep Hep C at bay didnt let the anti-rejection drugs work so she went through chronic rejection.  Her Hep C was barely detectable after the 1st transplant.

This time she got on the transplant list on 12/31/2009 with a MELD score of 50 which put her at the top of the list.

My question is that are they usually complications associated with the 2nd transplant with respect to having issues with her kidney function, have the liver enzymes be normal but the builbrun increase?

These past couple of weeks since her getting on the list and then getting the 2nd liver has been so stressful with so many ups and downs.

Looking for a doctors answer regading the complication question and also people who have gone through a 2nd transplant as sick at my mother.

the rejection medications can affect the kidneys so the kidney function has to be followed quite closely.
