Cirrosis of the liver

Cirrosis of the liver

My grandfather if in his 50's. He has hepatitis and he also has brain cancer. He had brain surgery to remove most of the tumor. He went through rounds of chemo for 2-2 1/2 years then was taken off. Recently he started running a fever and feeling sick to his stomach and feeling like his insides were burning. After visits with the doctor, and many tests, he was diagnosed with cirrosis (cirrhosis) of the liver. The doctors say he is not eligible for a liver transplant because of his terminal brain cancer. My questions is, with him eating healthy and not drinking and no drugs, what is the life expectency for someone in his condition. He is my only grandfather left, and we are very close. However, he wishes not to tell anyone anything. I just want to know, i want to plan, i want the remaining life of my grandfather to be the best. and i just need to know.

i have known people who have lived with cirrhosis for over 15 years without having a problem or needing a transplant.
