Dr Schiano, Your opinion??

Dr Schiano, Your opinion??

My mother recently had endosonographic liver biopsy done, caudate lobe.  MD noted...
Irregular mass of caudate lobe. Mass hypoechoic, multi cystic.  Size 45mm x 40mm at maximal cross sectional diameter. Endosonographic borders poorly defined.  Fine needle aspiration performed. Six passes made with 22 gauze needle which yielded some SEROUSANGUINOUS FLUID AND SOME TISSUE STRANDS.  Stylet ws used. Cytologist present, performed prelimary cytologic exam. Final cytology results prending. Fluid material sent for gram stain/culture.

Dr. Schiano, is it normal for caudate liver mass  to have serosanguinous fluid?  What is your opinion. I realize we must wait for the final results, but I was curious for your opinion. Thank You!!!

it is not unusual for there to be a serosanguinous aspirate.  dont think it typifies any specific etiology to what the lesion is
