Elevated SGOT and SPGT post transplant

My father had a liver transplant on Thanksgiving morning.  It is four months later and his SGOT is 445 and his SGPT is 862.  These are incredible high values and his biopsy showed no sign of rejection.  None of the pathologists at the university hospital could figure out what is wrong.  Can you shed some light?

End stage liver failure, liver cancer, cirrhosis and HCV.  His viral count was just checked as well and was very low.  He went through interferon therapy three times prior to transplant. They are now placing him on a prednisone gtt. 450mg of prednisone infused in one hour for three days on a row and today is his third day.
