HEP C and transplant

My Meld score has jumped around from 15 to 7 to 9 etc.  It seems it will be a while before I would be a candidate for a transplant.  Why not receive treatment now for my HEP C so when the day comes for a transplant it would not effect the new liver?

i completely agree.  We try if at all possible to treat all of our HCV patients who are on the waiting list, especially with such a MELD score, unless there are mitigating factors such as low platelets.

....as long as the platelets are above 50-60,000 it should be OK.  They typically drop by half with interferon.

I do have historically low platelets.  Does this proclude me from treating the HEP C?
