High Carbon Dioxide Levels on blood work

I recently had some blood work done.  I was told my liver function was normal (BUN was 15) but my Carbon Dioxide was 35.  I understand that normal is 21-32.  I had just flown home the day before the test with a cold.  Can this have any affect on the test and if not, what does a high Carbon Dixoide level mean? What should I be doing about it? I am a non smoker BTW.
