Proposed Changes to MELD Score For Those With HCC

Can you tell me when the changes to MELD scoring for those with HCC proposed at a recent National Conference will be or might implemented ?

regardless of changes to the allocation system nationally, HCC will carry a variance to allow you to be transplanted sooner. The only issue would be in what part of the country that you are listed--for instance, in NY one must wait 8-12 months sometimes to accrue enough waiting time in order to be transplanted with HCC while in the south the waiting time is closer to 3-4 months.

Pending insurance approval within the next week or two, I will begin the evaluation procedure. I do have HCC and the transplant center has accepted this diagnosis. Do you have any sense about how this will play out for me ?
