Hi..
Last Year, Doctor advised my Mom to have bile operation since her SGPT, SGOT, and GGT was always high.
A Week ago She had a fever, cough and flu, then she took antibiotics. After she had some examen her SGPT, SGOT, GGT are 4 times higher than normal. And alkaline phosphatase is also high.
Is it normal? How to cure this condition?
(my Mom is 56 years old, 60 kgs)
Kindly advise.
Thank you so much
i am unsure of her baseline liver condition but without a doubt antibiotics can cause a drug-induced hepatitis, especially the penicillins. its important to ask the doctor what they think the baseline liver disease is that warrants surgery. The liver tests must be followed expectantly to ensure they decrease with cessation of the antibiotics.
