Ursodiol

fdp
Hello Dr. Schiano,
I was dx with PBC in August and put on Ursodiol.
At the time I started the med my ALP was in the
360s and had an elevated AST.

My ALP is now 120 and AST in the normal range.
Is it possible to stop taking the Ursodiol  if my ALP
also falls into the normal range?
Thank you.

Hello Dr. Schiano,
I just had repeat blood work and my alk phos is increasing again despite remaining on ursodiol.  The prior two blood tests showed that my numbers were lowering and almost normal.   Is it common for alk phos to fluctuate in PBC or am I no longer benefiting from the medicine.  I am to have repeat blood work next month.
Thank you.

if the PBC diagnosisn is established, there is no utility to stopping the actigall.  It clearly is working as evidenced by the improvement in the liver tests.
