What drug to take after liver transplant due to liver cancer

Hi,

A friend of mine had liver transplant because of liver cancer.  His doctor asked him to take anti-cancer drug in addition to anti-rejection drug.

My questions are: 1) what is the standard care in US after liver transplant?  2) what kind of drugs the patient should take?  3) is it normal to continue taking anti-cancer drug?  If so, what is the commonly used drug in US?

Thanks for help!

there is no data that I know of that confirms that taking an anti-cancer drug prophylactically will prevent HCC from recurring.  a certain anti-rejection medication called rapamune may have some antineoplastic properties and is preferred by some programs to use after a liver transplant for a patient with HCC.  nexavar can be used when the HCC has already recurred.
