chemical toxin liver

my mother has worked with resin for 26 yrs, was stopped 40 yrs ago due to high liver levels. She is 83, her three doctors keep testing for any other reason why she has fluid build up which she has parencenticis done now regularly.  They tell her every thing is so good, other than this, she still gardens, paints, builds bird houses, paints her own house, is very active and still wants another good 10 yrs before thinking of slowing down-.  Is there anything else we can do for some kind of a treatment other than transplant.  They say she is a good candidate to be seen by Stanford or UCDavis- would they be up on any different type of treatments out there?

unfortunately 83 is a bit too old for a transplant.  Patients with ascites can be treated with diuretics, and intermittent paracentesis.  sometimes they can also have a juguloperitoneal shunt placed. TIPS is possible but i would be afraid that her quality of life would be negatively impacted.
