Dear Doctor,

Do you have any suggestions regarding the treatment of enlarged male breasts, with tenderness, in the presence of cirrhosis? This a recent complication, and is increasing at an alarming rate.

unfortunately this can happen in the setting of cirrhosis and there is really nothing that can be done short of surgery which i would not recommend.  the diuretic spironolactone can also cause this so if you are taking it, an alternative diuretic should be taken.

Thank you for the reply.  Yes, I am on spironolactone and lasix, but  my doctor is now changing it.  I hope that it will help.
