no need for perfection in new organ,changing a tune

In Dec. 2003 I had a liver transplant which never actually healed so for almost 6 years I have suffered from inflamation (inflammation) and psclerosing cholangitis.I wa informed by a second transplant team at a different hospital wher I am no registered on the waitng list for almost 5 years that a second transplant entail more time , greater risk and I woule need an almost persfect organ.
This has been repeated on each vist every 4- 6 weeks for the whole waiting period.
I now receive a certifeid letter saying that I must satisfy some new criteria in order to be put back on the list one of which is to move to the area withing two hours of the hospital. I had been told that for years I had to be within 6 hours drive of the hospital and I live 5 hours awaqy and on hour by plane and am a memebr of a volunteer gorup called Angel Flights, but now that isn't good enough.

I have been informed that I am scheduled for several more tests to see if there are an other signs  of morbidity that would preclude my getting back on the waitng list and recieving a new organ.I am aslo informed I will have a meeting to discuss whether I would accept an inferior liver rather than wait for a "perfect organ" which I have been repeatedly told is necessary for a second time around guy like me escpecially at my age of 66.

Why would the hopital now change it's tune and am I safe in agreeing to a less than perfect organ.? THat is my question

all transplant centers are now required by multiple regulatory agencies to have a stricter informed consent process.  retransplantation for any reason carries more significant morbidity and mortality so I think they are just being extra cautious
