approximately 20% of patients will develop renal failure 10 years after liver transplantation in large part due to the rejection medications.  careful control of any diabetes or hypertension is needed to prevent the needd for hemodialysis.

Hi Dianee, we are going through the same thing with my dad.  He will be 13 yrs post liver transplant on Feb 22, 2009. He is very sick and they are saying a kidney transplant is now needed.  His progression has rapidly increased within less than two months.  What are they saying is going on?  What is your urine output?  24 hour urine test did they do that?  Stay in touch my mom and myself would love to help.  We pray you are feeling well.  its a horrible thing like you havent been through enough with the liver transplant those friggin anti rejection meds are the culprit.

Lots of Prayers
Roxanne
