raised enzymes w/ unknown cause

Hi,
In the Spring I had a live liver transplant due to HCV caused cirrhosis.
Everything was going along fine and then prior to 6 months post tp my enzymes soared.
A biopsy showed my liver is in good condition.

I am on prograf and was weaning off of prednisone which as of two weeks ago, I'm finally off.
I was itching like crazy but that has let up some.  Benadryl doesn't work other than making me tired and cranky. My heptologist prescribed another med ( chlorestro-something) which felt like I had food poisoning.

I'm tired of itching and I wish my enzymes would just get back to where they belong.
Is there anything I can do to help my enzymes drop quicker??
Anything I should or shouldn't eat or vitamins I can take that may help ??  Any other ideas??

Thanks in advance.

Thought I'd let you know I had an ERCP last week. The bile duct had an obstruction. They put a stent in and my itching disappeared.
My bilirubin levels have already dropped as well as my other enzymes. I feel so very much better.

Thank you doctor. I'll talk to my doctor about an MRI.

I'm currently in a wait and see mode, doing weekly labs, as my enzymes are slowly dropping.
My doctor said if they continued to rise he'd want me to have an ERCP.

The itching has slowed down but what remains is still is annoying.

something has to be going on in ther liver if the blood tests are abnormal and you are itching.  if the liver biopsy was interpretted as normal then it might need to be repeated.  You should at least have an MRI to make sur there are no bile duct problems.
