Hello, i need some help. i had a liver transplant 16 months ago. i had been doing fine until this past summer. i had got two blood infections..sepis and was in and out of hospital all summer. during this time i had a CT scan. it showed i still have an enlarged spleen. also showed i had prominent gastrosplenic varices. all of my wbc and rbc is not looking to good...both low and platlet low. i need to know if this is normal post transplant? i did have a lot if varices before TP....did have a couple bleeds. thanks for your time. any feedback would help
i presume that the transplant is overall functioning well. Very often the spleen doesnt return to normal size post-transplant as it has become fibrotic. it is not unusual to still see remnants of previous varices. Transplant meds can make the counts lower
