transjugular portosystemic shunt (TIPS)

I have a healthy liver but I suffer from idiopathic colonic varicies, has anyone had the tips procedure with a healthy liver or has anyone had the tips (liver stent) for a good length of time more than 3 or 4 years.

i know dozens of patients who have had TIPS for many years.  there are obviously potential problems with TIPS but it is clearly a treatment for recurrent colonic variceal bleeding.
