transplanted 22 years ago now got a liver abcess(abscess)

i have had 21 good years with my liver. i have now been told i have an abcess (abscess) in it and ther has been talk of another transplant. is this the only way forward gary

I am not sure why you woukld have an abscess this far out from the transplant--how is the hepatic artery--patent? This is unusual.

i have had billery stents that got infected, given me sypses. they have tried to drain it but failled currently on antibioces long term. docs are sending me to transplant hospital for them to look at me. been told its to complex to just sort bile ducts so probally need a new transplant thanks for getting back.

unfortunately that may be the reality.  it may be difficult to prioritize you for another transplant based on MELD score alone.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.  I just made it to the 10 month post liver transplant mark yesterday.  I am so amazed you are 22 years post transplant.  I know I do not have to tell you about the importance of staying positive and miracles can happen.  You are an inspiration!

  allways stay positive i have had 21 very good years, with my liver only thelast one giving me problems. be moved to a transplant hospital soon if it comes to a new liver i will be looking for another 20 years. things and meds are so much better now adays wishing u a good future and just get on with wot ever u want to gary
