Dear Doctor,

I would like to know if its safe to take anti virals treatment for recurrent hcv post liver transplant.  And  what are the protocols before treatments.  Viral load counts are very very high.  Also can the treatment interfere the anti rejections drugs.  And what can I expect....

thanks.

treatment is with interferon and ribavirin.  success rates are not as high and therapy can be more difficult to tolerate.  rejection may be an issue so patients should be followed quite closely.  unfortunately we have nothing better to offer right now
