tylenol

Is it safe to take tylenol if you have early cirrhosis?
Also how much milk thistle is recommend to take each day?
can a person live many years if they have early cirrhosis?
If they don't drink again will they still develop complications as time goes on
or will it stop the progression?

i agree with the advice above.  taking what the package says for the specific milk thistle preparation is recommended. alcoholic liver disease can sometimes dramatically regress with sobriety.  patients can live decades with cirrhosis.  they are however at risk for developing hepatocellular carcinoma.

I apologize for answering here - I am not a doctor or even in the medical field.
I mistakenly thought I was on the "Liver Disorders" site.
My mistake.

I believe that Tylenol is safe if dosed correctly. I would try to stay at or below 1 gram per day but I have heard hepatologists say 2 grams per day is alright. I would stay at 1000 mg (1 gram) per day.
I don't know the recommended dose of Milk Thistle for someone with early stage cirrhosis or anyone for that matter.
People can live a long time with compensated cirrhosis. Alcohol should be avoided, of course.
If alcohol is the cause of the cirrhosis then complete abstinence may halt the progression. Complications are always a risk but the risk can be minimized by a healthy lifestyle.
Good luck,
Mike
