wilsons disease post liver transplant

wilsons disease post liver transplant

I have a brother, 53 y.o. who was diagnosed with wilsons disease when he was 14. He had a liver transplant 4 and half years ago with the hope of stopping the neurological worsening. Unfortunatelty this has not occured and he has steadidly declined over this period. The last 6 months at an alarming rate. Speech, walking, swallowing. balance, tremors. My question is does he still have wilsons disease and should he be taking medication for it.
He was told post transplant that he didn't but am very confused as to why he has deteriotated, and at an alarming rate. Thanks.

unfortunately severe chronic neurological deficits may not be fixed by liver transplantation for wilson disease.  I am not sure however why they would be worsening post-liver transplantation as the deterioration should definitely not be due to wilson disease.  tacrolimus can cause peripheral neuropathy and there are other reasons why patients can develop neurological dysfunction post-liver transplantation unrelated to wilson disease.
