Breathing difficulty

I have trouble breathing and it feels like I am sipping thru a straw, but it only on the left side.  I have had a chest xray, ekg, and echocardiogram.  I had a breathing test at the alleg. and he said I improve by 12% after an alb. treatment, but did not diag. me with asth.  He gave me xopenix, which I have been using twice a day.  I have had numerous dr. appt. and no one seems to worried about a heart condition.  I am 40 and have hypothyroidism and just had my meds. adjusted in the last four days.  The breathing trouble has been here for three months, ever since the weather changed.  My pulse ox have been good at 98%.  Does anyone have any comments.  I am concerned about my heart, but also my lungs.  I am not a smoker and I am athletic.  Thanks.

Yes, I have read that hypo. can cause shortness of breath.  I am interested tho. how many people can go between hypo and hyper symptoms during a day.  I seem to have symptoms of both, but my last levels would indicate I am close to be hyper. and that is why I was reduced medicine.  Do you know if you can get thyroid cancer even after RAI?  I had that in 2002 for graves disease.  I am sorry you had to go through that, but I am glad that you had a successful outcome.

Comment to 'Breathing difficulty'  Rasta15,
I am a thyroid cancer survivor, but I recall when I was waiting for radioactive iodine treatment and in a severe state of induced hypothyroidism, (TSH=140) I had difficulty catching my breath and felt starved for air. I thought I had lung mets that would surely be found in the treatment scans, but was relieved to discover that low thyroid hormone levels can cause this sensation. My O2 levels were good too and I noticed that frequent yawning was also related to the hypothyroidism. After treatment and I was allowed to go back on Synthroid, my breathing came back better than ever. It is a documented symptom of hypothyroidism, but don't stop looking for answers if you feel something is wrong, I stopped looking and paid a price for it. Ask about the thyroid issue as a possible cause for difficult breathing.
