Chronic pain following pleurodesis

Chronic pain following pleurodesis

Hi, I am a 24yo female, 6ft. I have no history of lung disease. In december 2006 I experienced a spontaneous pnuemothorax, which was treated with a chest tube for 9 days.  I felt fine after I was released, just a little sore from the tube.  Then, a year and half later in April 2008 i had a recurrence and was treated at MGH.  I had a pleurodesis performed and was sent home after five days. i had extreme pain in my side for a month, (only partially managed by percocet) along with muscle spasms that brought me to tears at times.  I needed tylenol with codiene for another month after that for pain management.  I also had numbness through my chest, shoulder and side for about four months following surgery.

My question is about chronic pain.  It's been almost two years since my surgery, and I still have coniderable pain (probably a 2-3 out of ten at any given time) through my shoulder and shoulderblade.  It feels like a gigantic knot that won't go away.  I'm pretty sure its nerve damage, but i just need a way to make the pain go away. Any ideas?
