Constant Urge To Take A Deep Breath.

Constant Urge To Take A Deep Breath.

I'm a 16 year old female, and for about 3 weeks now, I've have the urge, almost all the time, to take very deep breaths. It happens the worst at night, or when I'm sitting or lying down. I've very constant, and this has never happened before. I don't have asthma and it's not in the family history. My chest has also recently started hurting. I don't think it's something serious, but I just want to make sure.

Hi,
You are right when you think that it is not something 'serious'. It is unlikely that you have lung cancer. Even asthma is unlikely to present with the urge to sigh or take deep breaths constantly.
Have you been under any academic or personal stress lately?
You should consult a doctor for a routine examination. But I dont think there is any problem with your lungs.
All the best, and God Bless!

I have been under a lot of stress, but not anymore then I have had about 3 weeks ago... there has been not that much of a difference stress wise... I don't have any urges to cough and I don't have wheezing when I breathe... but I always need to take deep breaths.. I told my step mom and she just said it will pass... which didn't help much, but it's been going on for about a month now...

Hi,
It is better for a doctor to conduct a physical examination on you in order to decide the best investigation and course of action.
As I wrote earlier, I doubt if it is cancer, but for a correct diagnosis, a visit to the doctor is essential.
All the best!
