Explanation for Hilum

Explanation for Hilum

Hi, my father is 75 and has just had his results back from a chest x-ray. The results showed the left Hilum is promiment, with loss of hilar of configuration, this could represent adenopathy or mass projected over this area. The Right Hilum looks normal, both lung fields & pleural fields appear clear.
Normal chronic appearance. CT scan would be recommended for more detailed evaluation of the left hilum.
The doctor has recommended a cat scan, should I be patient and wait for an NHS appointment or do you think I need to act quickly and seek Private help?
What could this be?

Regards

Del Nazim
