Found small probable lung cancer

During a routine annual check on lung sarcoidosis found one nodule which has grown since 2012--it is now 3mm.  Physician is pretty convinced that this is a lung cancer and should be removed because it is early.  Is it unusual to find lung cancer and sarcoidosis together and what are the odds of the other sarcoid nodules becoming malignant?
