How much time???

My dad had a non small cell tumor removed from his lung 5 years ago.  It was found by accident during a CT scan for some minor surgery.  The tumor was small and very well contained.  He had no chemo or radiation after surgery.  Two weeks ago (after 6 months of weird symptoms), a brain tumor was found.  The brain tumor was biopsied (they couldn't remove any), but they were not able to get any actual tumor cells.  A full body pet scan was just performed, and they found several lymph nodes in the chest and neck that turned out to be NSC.  If we assume that the tumor in his brain is also NSC, what kind of survival, time frame are we looking at?  I want to believe that my dad will beat all the odds - etc. etc., but I want to be realistic about the quality time we have as well.

Thanks

The more I learn about this disease, the more I realize that everyone is so individual when it comes to the long term prognosis.  My best advice is to enjoy the NOW as much as possible and help keep him as positive and healthy as possible....the quality of life is so much more important to me now than the length of life.
Blessings,
