Lung Cancer

by mauicoke, Nov 02, 2007 03:29AM
My mom had lung cancer several years ago. She had surgery and had the big lobe removed. Now she has another spot (about 5years after) Is it possiable to give her 1 of my good lungs? If I am a match?

Hi,
I am sorry to hear of the recurrence of your mother's lung cancer.
Lung transplant is not indicated for treatment of lung cancer patients.
Most lungs used for transplantations are harvested from brain dead donors, although trials involving living donors are also ongoing.
Your mother's oncologist may plan a second-line chemotherapy for her.
